INTRODUCTION
A fume hood is a ventilated, enclosed workspace intended to capture, Contain and exhaust harmful or dangerous chemical fumes, vapors and Particulate matter generated by procedures conducted within the Hood. No hepa filtration of either the intake or exhaust air takes place. The air is exhausted outside the laboratory. This makes a fume hood Most suitable for chemical use and other work where sterility is not a Concern. Fume hoods should be utilized for hazardous drug or Chemical preparation and use with various waste anesthetic gases The fume hood protects users by containing and exhausting airborne Hazards; it does this by onstantly pulling the hood air/fumes and Exhausting it directly outside the building through exhaust. Fume Hood sashes also provide shielding in the event of an explosion or fire Inside the hood.
Laboratory fume hoods are a type of ventilation system with the primary function to exhaust chemical fumes, vapors, gasses, dust, mist and aerosol. Fume hoods also serve as physical barriers between reactions and the laboratory, offering a measure of protection against inhalation exposure, chemical spills, run-away reactions and fires. Experimental procedures are performed within the hood which is consistently and safely ventilated, by means of an extract blower and ductwork. The hood functions by maintaining a relatively negative pressure in the interior of the hood to prevent any contaminant from escaping while drawing air in through the hood opening at a consistent rate. A suitable hood face velocity (the speed at which air is drawn into the hood) is of importance to the safe and effective operation of a fume hood. While excessive face velocities can often result in turbulence and reduce containment, insufficient velocities can also compromise hood performance. Fume hoods are recommended for exhaust from the hood working area, of gases, vapour, toxic particles, odour to improve working environment of people who regularly handle toxic substances. Reduces personal exposures and odor level in the laboratory.

These are designed to exhaust toxic, or otherwise harmful apours etc., for protecting laboratory personnel & equipment. A motor- blower exhaust system ( optional) generates negative pressure within the hood, extracting the contaminated air from the work area and expelling it into the atmosphere and preventing the fumes from escaping into the room. These are recommended for various laboratories like bio-chemistry, pharmaceutical units, printed circuit etching/cleaning etc. The work surface (worktable) is of stainless steel sheet. A small p.p. Sink, water tap and water outlet provided. A sliding door made of acrylic, moves vertically up/down with counter balanced weight operated by steel rope. Hood is provided with fluorescent light for easy working in the chamber. A metal clad socket and gas cock is also provided in the chamber. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  16. Internal nozzles brass powder coated fittings are staggered in the fume hood to avoid the intermingling of the flexible tubes. Also, the taps are tapered in shape to use with flexible tubing of sizes from ¼" to ½" in dia, to provide greater flexibility to the user. Note: - our scope of supply for utility lines ends at 1/4th bsp male adopter.

  20. Chemical storage base cabinet (ventilated & on castors) base cabinet will be ready to receive the fume hood at its top. It will have following features:
    • Completely made from 1.2 mm thick gp sheet with highly corrosion resistant epoxy powder coating,100 microns thickness.
    • Cabinet integral work walls will be special chemical & heat resistant, smooth finish, easily cleanable panels made from durable sheets.
    • One removable horizontal partition to store chemicals.
    • Cabinets on castors.
    • Roller catch for the base cabinet doors.
  21. Apparatus holding grid (lattice assembly) a grid made up of epoxy powder coated rod (dia. 12.7 mm) to hold the apparatus. It will cover the entire length of the fume hood and will be built-in at fume hood backside. Installed at the distance of 150 mm from backside of fume hood.
  22. Exhaust port Unique exhaust port design ensures that the fumes will be exhausted smoothly Without any turbulence at the exhaust port. Also, it ensures low noise level.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Work Top
Jet-Black Granite “or” Premium Black with chamfer moulding at the front & groove at the bottom to avoid chemical spillage on the modules or on the floor work top will be made of 16 to 19mm thick. worktop will be fixed with the module by foam tape and all joints are sealed thru epoxy sealant, with low water absorption.
Material Of Construction
Material of construction will be made of 1 mm Galvanized Plain Sheets (GP SHEETS SP) with 120gm zinc coating. Resistance to corrosion & high impact strength, powder coated.
Under Bench Module
Under bench module will be made of 1 mm GP sheets. The entire module is made up of gp panels and are bolted/rivetted for achieving maximum strength with high corrosion resistance. The shutters or doors are mounted to the modules by soft close hinges with soft closing mechanism which are openable to 95 degree. Drawers are mounted with the ball bearing based soft touch telescopic slides which are sturdy & able to take load up to 45 kg.

Powder Coating
Complete module & frame work are processed with multi-tank pre- treatment and finished with highly corrosion resistant 'Kansai Nerolac/Equivalent' epoxy powder coating with minimum 100 microns thickness.
